Hadleigh McAlister

Born and raised in London, I am a proud East Ender. I have had the honour to serve as the Ward 1 Councillor since 2022. I live in Ward 1 along with my wonderful wife Sam, our temperamental terrier Charlie and our daughter Maeve. As a family we love exploring all that Ward 1 has to offer. From our beautiful parks, to the fun filled entertainment venues, to our fabulous food spots. There is a lot to see and do in Ward 1. It was what drew us to the area and why we chose to raise our family here.

I am proud to call Ward 1 my home and strive each and every day to make it a better place for everyone. I have been a vocal advocate on many important issues impacting our ward. When the city was considering closing our recreational facilities, I spoke up and defended Silverwoods and Glen Cairn, both of which have been saved and are undergoing improvements. When people were being injured and killed on Hamilton Road, I spoke up and fought for traffic safety. When buildings were left to rot, I took action and pushed through demolitions, like the old buffet and KFC along Hamilton Road. When residents reached out to get advance green lights, sidewalks, crosswalks, and streetlights, I got them installed. When community organizations reached out for help with programs and festivals, I assisted with funding and city support. These are just a few of things I’ve been able to accomplish in my short time on council.

I am immensely proud of what I’ve been able to achieve by working collaboratively with city staff, my residents, and our community organizations. Together we’ve already achieved a lot but there is still much work to be done. The challenges we’ve faced, are not unlike those faced by our newest addition to Ward 1, OEV. I understand the struggles they’ve faced, regarding homelessness and urban revitalization, and will fight for them to get the city support they need. I have and will continue stand up for Ward 1.

I am running for re-election because Ward 1 deserves a representative who shows up, listens, and gets things done. Not rhetoric — results.
